In applications with a wide input voltage range—such as automotive electronics, industrial control and telecommunications equipment—power supply systems often face challenges such as significant fluctuations in input voltage, cold-start voltage drops and sudden load drops. ADI’s LT8494 | LT8495 series of current-mode, fixed-frequency SEPIC/boost converters feature integrated 2 A, 70 V switches and support a wide input voltage range of 3 V to 60 V, with an output voltage of up to 70 V. A key advantage of the SEPIC topology is its ability to operate with an input voltage that is higher than, lower than, or equal to the output voltage, making it particularly suitable for applications such as automotive electronic control unit (ECU) power supplies, portable device power supplies and industrial power supplies.

I. LT8494 – SEPIC/Boost DC/DC Converter with 2 A, 70 V Switch and 7 μA Quiescent Current

The LT8494 is a single-chip switch-mode regulator with adjustable frequency (250 kHz to 1.5 MHz). The quiescent current can be less than 7 μA during device operation and is approximately 0.3 μA when the SWEN pin is low. The LT8494 can be configured as a SEPIC, boost or flyback converter. Its low-ripple Burst Mode® operation maintains high efficiency under low output current conditions and keeps output ripple below 10 mV.

The LT8495 is a monolithic switch-mode regulator with adjustable frequency (250kHz to 1.5MHz), featuring power-on reset and a watchdog timer. The quiescent current can be less than 9 μA whilst the device is operating, and is approximately 0.3 μA when the SWEN, WDE and RSTIN pins are at a low level. The device can be configured as a SEPIC, boost or flyback converter; its low-ripple Burst Mode® operation maintains high efficiency under low output current conditions and keeps output ripple below 10 mV.
